The police in Uasin Gishu County have arrested 14 suspects following the attack on Raila Odinga at Kabenes after the burial of Jackson Kibor

The polices officers in Uasin Gishu County have arrested 14 suspects following the attack on the former prime minister Raila Odinga at Kabenes after the burial of businessman Jackson Kibor.

Confirming the arrest, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara on Saturday, April 2, said that those arrested have implicated key political leaders for being behind the attack.

Kihara vowed that after the investigations are completed, the politicians will be arrested and charged to serve as a lesson to others.

“We will not allow that to happen in our country and anyone doing that will not be tolerated,” Kihara said.

The arrests come after allies of the ODM leader called on the National Police Service to immediately bring those involved to book.

In a statement issued on Saturday, April 2, Odinga’s presidential campaign secretariat spokesperson Makau Mutua labeled the Friday attack, which he says was politically instigated, as being savage and despicable.

“We ask the State to leave no stone unturned in investigating the Soy attack on Odinga and his entourage in order to bring the weight and full force of the law on those responsible,” said Mutua.

In a statement issued on Saturday, April 2, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i had also directed the police to investigate and arrest youths involved in the stoning of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s chopper on Friday.

“I call upon the National Police Service to investigate the matter and ensure that all the culprits and their masterminds are made to swiftly and decisively face the consequences of their criminal actions,” Matiang’i said in the statement.

On his tour of DP Ruto’s backyard yesterday, the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate experienced hostility as he attempted to sell his candidature.

During a public rally in Elgeyo Marakwet, Odinga was forced to prematurely end his rally after youths started heckling him and shouting Rutos’ name.

The ODM leader attended the burial of businessman Jackson Kibor also faced a hostile reception there as a group of youths pelted stones at his chopper, damaging the screen.
