Allies and supporters of Deputy President William protested against a report on Citizen TV showing how some youths tried to stop the DPs motorcades as he headed for a political meeting in Mt Kenya region.
According to the report, Ruto’s motorcade was blocked by youths in Naru Moru area, who pelted some cars in the motorcade with stones.
This comes at a time when Royal Media Services CEO, the company which owns Citizen TV, has thrown his weight behind Raila Odinga’s quest to be Kenya’s fifth president in 2022.
The Deputy President allies angrily accused Citizen TV of biased reporting with some claiming the station failed to show how the deputy president received a rousing welcome in Mt Kenya region after the ‘small incident’ in Naru Moru.
“I advise the hustler nation to desist from watching Citizen TV Kenya. They are taking us back to the dark days of KANU Party and KADU where biased news was a norm,
“As Hustlers, we can update ourselves using alternative sources like social media. Hata mlika mwizi iko na kazi yake!(Even a security light has its job),” Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi wrote on his social media platforms.

In a Video shared by Citizen TV, angry youths were seen pelting stones and jeering DP Ruto’s motorcade as he was heading to Kieni, Nyeri County.
After cruising his way into the area and attending a church service, Ruto had a brief public rally where he called out those who planned the mayhem.
“Even if they have tried to block the road, to organize youths to cause violence. I am telling them that the journey to make sure hustlers; small businessmen ad the jobless are included in government plans cannot stop,” Ruto said.
He termed the incident as a plan by his opponents to frustrate his State House ambition, and coerce him to give up his 2022 presidential bid.
“I want to tell them that we have made a decision, and we will not retreat, and we will not surrender,” he said.
The DP Interacted with a section of supporters from Kieni, Nyeri County, after a prayer service at the Mbiriri Full Gospel Churches of Kenya. He was in the company of more than 40 MPs from Mt Kenya Region.
He also addressed rallies in Kibingoti market, Kirinyaga County, Mukuyu market in Kiharu Constituency, and Maragua market in Maragua constituency, Murang’a County, something the Citizen TV report failed to capture, thus angering Ruto’s allies as well as supporters who believed the station was being used to paint the DP negatively in Mt Kenya region.
