Aden Duale fumbles on live TV while criticizing President Uhuru

by Nderi Caren

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale was found himself in an awkward position at Parliament buildings while criticising President Uhuru’s State of the Nation address.

The former National Assembly majority leader was speaking to the press about President Uhuru Kenyatta’s failures before momentarily fumbling and appearing lost for words as the president passed nearby.

“The president has missed the point, the State of the Nation address is a constitutional function, it says he is supposed to address his government obligation on matters of national security and how his government has complied with national issues,” Duale said.

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale was caught at crossroads at Parliament buildings on Tuesday, November 30 while talking about President Uhuru’s State of the Nation address.

Duale added that President Uhuru Kenyatta was disrespectful by arriving late at Parliament buildings.

He further criticized him for attacking judges who nullified the Building Bridges Initiative.

“The president went ahead and attacked judges…some of them who were at the gallery….” he said.

No sooner had he continued talking than President Uhuru appeared nearby. The Head of State passed behind Aden Duale, and this seemingly scared the former National Assembly majority leader.

Duale started fumbling, looking at President Uhuru who was passing by with his security team and other officials.

Uhuru’s address in parliament attracted criticism from William Ruto allies who said that he did not meet the expectations of the nation, but instead a long empty speech.

“Parliament should pass a law to set the maximum time that future Presidents will take in the State of the Nation Address. Like Winston Churchill said “a good speech should be like woman’s skirt ….” Murkomen wrote in a tweet.

At the same location, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa also gave a comment on President Uhuru’s track record.

“From 2013-2018 I would give him 8 marks out of 10…from 2017 till now I will give him 3 marks…that is 30%. If I was a teacher I would write on his report card ‘please see me with your parents’,” Didmus said.
