Alfred Mutua says William Ruto preparing ground to reject presidential results

by Enock Ndayala

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has sensationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto is preparing to reject the upcoming August 9, presidential results.

Mutua said this hours after the deputy president alleged that there are plans by President Uhuru Kenyatta to rig him out by imposing a presidential candidate on Kenyans in the August 9 General Election.

However, in an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, March 3, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said the deputy president could have sensed defeat adding that making such remarks might fuel election violence if he indeed loses.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has sensationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto is preparing the ground to reject the August 9, presidential results.

“Has he thought through about making such claims? What impact does that have on his supporters when and if he loses, would they say he has been rigged out?” Mutua posed.

He said William Ruto is scared and he has started seeing problems everywhere thinking that others are unfair.

“He is planting a seed of discorn so that when he loses people will go to the streets and burn vehicles and say we were rigged out. We started talking about it from America,” he said.

Speaking at the Karson Institute for Race, Peace, and Social Justice in Maryland, US, William Ruto appealed to the global community to intervene and help stop attempts by his bitter rivals to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections.

In his words, the deputy president said the people seeking to consolidate their interests under a certain presidential candidate have resorted to “manipulating decisions of people at different levels”.

“There is a lot of blackmail, intimidation, and use of criminal justice system to intimidate leaders to ask people to vote in a certain way. I am very confident that the will of the people of Kenya will prevail,” he said.
