How Mt Kenya MPs plan to leave William Ruto ahead of 2022 General Election

Political analyst Herman Manyora has commented on the demands that Mt.Kenya leaders made to deputy President last week.

The Tanga Tanga allies from the Central region led by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua presented a negotiation framework for supporting Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition.

In the agreement, the leaders wanted Ruto to assure them that the region will bounce back to its economic glory, which they accused Uhuru’s government of taking their resources.

The leaders further wanted DP Ruto to pick a running mate from Mt.Kenya.

Herman Manyora now explains that there is nothing the leaders want from Ruto; Instead they want to leave him.

“I want to tell my friends that we know the game, there is nothing to do with demands for William Ruto, they are actually intending to leave. These demands are mere excuses, because the ultimate intention of the Tanga Tanga brigade from Mt.Kenya is to leave, ” Manyora argued in his weekly political analysis, Just in Time.

How do you, with 10 Million votes go and beg somebody with 2 Million votes for a deputy president position? Photo: William Ruto/Twitter.

The political analyst said that he had seen the plans of those leaders from afar.

He went ahead to explain why the economic recovery demands tabled by the leaders are just excuses because logically, they do not need Ruto.

“If you contribute 42% of the GDP, why would you go to somebody who contributes less than 5% and beg him? How do they go and beg from Ruto, who comes from a place that contributes a less amount to the GDP? Logic refuses,” he quipped.

In terms of their political interests, Manyora explained that Central Kenya has many voters than Ruto’s Rift Valley region, hence there is no way the leaders would beg for a deputy president position from him.

“More interesting, is how Rigathi and Gachagua go to ask for a political position from William Ruto. Logic refuses that too. The Mt. Kenya Community has between 27-30% of the voters in Kenya. They are projected at 10 Million strong votes in 2022 against Ruto’s 2 Million votes. How do you, with 10 Million votes go and beg somebody with 2 Million votes for a deputy president position? “ he asked.

From the two explanations, Manyora reached to the conclusion that the demands are not logical because the Mt.Kenya leaders have more power than Ruto, hence they ought to dictate the terms as opposed to begging.

“If Rigathi Gachagua and his team were honest, if they were not looking for reasons to run away from Ruto, they would not be engaged in a circus of asking for positions. In fact, they would be telling Ruto ‘we are giving you this small power to be in State House, but the rest is ours’ and they would not be talking about it in public,” he said.

With these logical explanations, the political analyst cum lawyer concluded that the brigade had smelt the coffee and was preparing to abandon Wiliam Ruto. Photo: Ndindi Nyoro/Twitter.

Manyora further added that if the demands were genuine, the deal would have been privatized because a Ruto presidency can only exist with Mt. Kenya region being made powerful from the inside.

With these logical explanations, the political analyst concluded that the brigade had smelt the coffee and was preparing to abandon Wiliam Ruto.

He explained that the team did not have any influence in Central Kenya, therefore, they cannot say anything on behalf of the Gema Nation.

“The mountain is restless in terms of who is speaking for them, there is no way the Kikuyu will allow these young fellows to speak for the community. The community may even endorse Ruto, but they shall not be led to this path by these Tanga Tanga leaders,” asserted Manyora.
