Political analyst explains why Kalonzo, Mudavadi should support Raila for presidency

by Enock Ndayala

Political analyst Edward Kisiang’ani has said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi should support ODM leader Raila Odinga for presidency come 2022.

Taking to his Twitter on Tuesday, September 7, Kisiang’ani who is also Deputy President William Ruto’s political advisor argued that the One Kenya Alliance duo has no fundamental differences with Raila as they all support President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He further argued that since the OKA principals and Raila Odinga have a common enemy in Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto, then they have no option but to support the former prime minister’s State House bid.

Political analyst Edward Kisiang’ani has said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi should support ODM leader Raila Odinga for presidency come 2022.

“My suggestion is that since Musalia (Mudavadi), Kalonzo (Musyoka), and Raila (Odinga) have no fundamental differences and given they all support President Uhuru  Kenyatta but detest William Ruto, they should all unite under their senior brother Raila to face the DP in 2022,” he said.

The trio; Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, and Kalonzo Musyoka worked together under the recently dissolved National Super Alliance (NASA) in the 2017 presidential elections where Kalonzo supported Raila’s fourth stab at the presidency.

However, the former NASA principals parted ways over who should fly the opposition flag in the 2022 presidential elections with Mudavadi and Kalonzo insisting that Raila Odinga must support one of them for the top seat.

While Kalonzo insisted that the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding outlined that Raila Odinga should support one of them, the ODM leader maintains that there was no such agreement.

The rift among the opposition chiefs prompted President Uhuru to intervene in trying to broker a truce.

President Uhuru in one of the recent meetings held at State Lodge in Mombasa reportedly advised the trio together with KANU chair Gidon Moi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to work together to deny his estranged deputy the chance to ascend to power.
