Anne Waiguru awaits President Uhuru’s decision on Mt Kenya to choose her political direction

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is awaiting President Uhuru’s decision on which direction the Mt Kenya region will take in 2022.

After President Uhuru Kenyatta makes his decision as the Mt Kenya kingpin, Waiguru says that is when she will make a decision on which political direction to take.

In an interview on Citizen TV on October 19, Anne Waiguru said she will consider President Uhuru’s decision if it is in her best interest.

“The President is unlikely to give a directive that you must follow, he is a politician. He knows that at the end of the day people have to make their decisions and determine their political destiny,” she said.

Waiguru added that President Uhuru is a democrat and respects divergent political views.

“Whatever decision he makes, I will consider it and then I will wait, and I will make a decision that will be in the best interest of where I am going,” Waiguru added.

This is a change of tune from Anne Waiguru, who said that she will reveal her next political move after listening to her people on the ground.

After asking Kirinyaga residents the party they would wish she joins, majority said William Ruto’s UDA Party.

“Didn’t you hear me say I will do what the people of Kirinyaga will have said… I am asking you, my brothers and sisters, because I have heard you say you will vote me back, what party do you want me to come with?” Waiguru posed as the crowd replied UDA.

Due to her indecisiveness, Waiguru’s opponent Wangui Ngirici believes that she is in a better position to defeat Waiguru in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race.

“I know how the ground looks like since I am always with the people unlike the governor, who is still listening to what the ground is saying before she decides on her next move,” Purity Ngirici said.
