Anne Waiguru: I am qualified to be a president or deputy president of Kenya

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is confident that she can be the president or Deputy President of Kenya.

During an interview on NTV, Waiguru said that she has the necessary experience and proven record to occupy the hugest office in Kenya.

“I am fit, not only to be the deputy president, but also the president of the Republic of Kenya. I believe I am capable, I have the skills and required knowledge as well as enough experience,” she said while responding to a question whether or not she believes she can be a running mate to any of the current presidential hopefuls.

The former planning and devolution cabinet secretary said that the right time to contest for the presidential seat has not come, but if given a running mate position, she is ready.

“The time has not come, but if I am given the deputy position, I am very fit,” Waiguru said.

The Kirinyaga county boss also spoke about her relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Despite cutting her ties with Jubilee Party, Waiguru says she still has high regard for her boss, President Uhuru.

“My relationship with Uhuru Kenyatta is good, it is like that of a boss and his colleagues. He is my party leader and he helped me get to where I am. His government has worked closely with Kirinyaga County,” she explained.

There have been reports that Waiguru has stood out as one of the most preferred candidates for the running mate position in the 2022 General Election.

For this reason, members of the One Kenya Alliance held talks with her after she revealed that she is in search of a political home.

On September 14, Wiper Party leader met Anne Waiguru at her Kirinyaga home in his search for political partners in Mt Kenya region.

“I am ready to scale up the mountain. But I’m also very cautious not to cause any friction and no wonder I’m paying a courtesy call to the governor and engaging other local leaders,” Kalonzo said.

Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC also said they are seeking a partnership with Anne Waiguru.
