Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has hinted at a possibility of joining the United Democratic Alliance, a party heavily associated with William Ruto just a day after decrying state harassment.

During an interview on Spice FM on Monday, September 6, the Kirinyaga Governor said that her political decisions are inspired by what her people want.

The tough-talking politicians categorically said she might or might not join UDA based on how her supporters would direct her or the seat she will be vying for in the next election.

“I cannot say I would (not join UDA), I cannot say I would not (join UDA), this is politics. But it is a bit early, let us see what the ground (supporters say) looks like,

“I am going to be spending a lot of time on the ground (with supporters) they will decide which direction we take. And will also determine the seat I will go for,” Anne Waiguru said.

The hints on joining UDA followed a claim by Waiguru that she is being harassed by the Ethics and Antic-Corruption Commission (EACC) because of her current political position.

Last time I said on BBI bill, let me keep quiet a bit. Immediately, EACC raided my office. Recently I said am introspecting on the political way forward, and again immediately I get EACC summons complete with all the subtle threatening inflexibilities,” Waiguru said.

After the High Court declared the BBI bill null and void, Waiguru who was a supporter of the bill said she is going to soul search on her political future.

Even before this, Governor Waiguru has been implying that she is unsatisfied with the Jubilee Party.

On numerous occasions, she has called for a change in the Party’s leadership.

Waiguru’s lack of faith in Jubilee and announcing that she will think about her political stand gives hints that she might be on her way to joining UDA.
