Anne Waiguru rubbishes rival Purity Ngirici’s complaints against Ruto’s party

Last month, former Kirinyaga woman representative Wangui Ngirici filed a petition challenging the re-election of Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru.

Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has dismissed complaints raised by her bitter rival and the county’s Woman Rep Purity Ngirici against United Democratic Alliance, a party associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, November 25, at her official residence in Kagio, Waiguru accused Ngirici of personalising the party to the extent of not wanting to welcome new politicians in.

She said the United Democratic Movement is a national political party and should not be treated as personal property.

“There is no party that belongs to an individual. The party belongs to all Kenyans. UDA belongs to the citizenry. Kenyans asked us to join the party and I being conscious of their opinion I joined UDA,” Waiguru said.

While calling on party members to welcome new blood to the camp to grow its membership ahead of the 2022 elections, Waiguru said her late entry to the party does not mean she should be treated like a ‘backbencher’.

She said her decision to join William Ruto’s party was approved by Kenyans and that more leaders are expected to join them as the clock ticks towards the 2022 General Election.

“Because you (Purity Ngirici) came earlier now nobody will join the party? For example, if the founder was an individual, will they stay alone at the party. They will have to add more people,

“Kenyans are the ones who told me to join the party and we are still looking for new membership. Those who are yet to join UDA should register with the party,” she added.

This come barely two days after Waiguru’s bitter rival Purity Wangui Ngirici threatened to quit UDA ahead of their battle for Kirinyaga gubernatorial race.

Ngirici expressed regrets in building William Ruto’s UDA Party with her personal resources worth millions.

In an interview with the Standard Newspaper, Ngirici narrated how she converted her company; ‘Ngirici and Sons Rescue Team offices to UDA county offices.

“Only tricksters exist in the world of politics, loyalty is a mirage and ambiguous. I don’t even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch but I’m young in politics and still learning,” Ngirici said.
