Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to Murang’a County has been fruitful after Maragua MP Mary Wamaua officially decamped to UDA.
The Jubilee MP who had subscribed to the ideas of handshake wing was one of the local leaders who welcomed the deputy president during his tour of Saba Saba, Murang’a County, where he addressed residents shortly after a church service.
Wamaua who sat next to the second in command as they closely shared Bible verse said she was still listening to her employers and that she will go as directed by her constituents.
“A time shall come when these people will decide, I am just their employee and I must go as they want. I will be alongside them,” Wamaua said.
The legislator has been a great critic of William Ruto from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region said the work done by the deputy president cannot go unnoticed saying that the presidential hopeful has been of great support to the Mt Kenya region hustlers.
“He (William Ruto) always cares for us, you came here and helped us build a boarding school in one of these areas. And we will invite you to see the good work done there,” she added.
Ruto told residents that the Maua was one of them as they formed the Jubilee government together in 2017.
“This member of yours is one of us. We are all together, pushing this work together,” Ruto said amid cheers from the residents.
Wamaua’s decision to technically ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party comes barely a month after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru switched her allegiance to Ruto’s UDA after months of speculations.
“After extensive consultation with Kirinyaga people, I’ve decamped to hustler nation. 2022 Chama ni UDA, Form ni Hustler, Mpango ni Bottom-Up!” She said as she joined Ruto’s wheelbarrow movement.
