Kositany, a close ally of Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto will have to battle it out with former Eldoret South MP Peris Simam and Nairobi Devolution executive Vesca Kangogo for UDA ticket.

Apart from the trio, there are other leading aspirants seeking to run on UDA, a party that is heavily associated with William Ruto.

They include Jonathan Bii, Kenya’s envoy to Pakistan Julius Bitok, and Ngeyilel MCA David Singoei. All of them are allies of the deputy president.

Although there are speculations that Senator Margaret Kamar may throw a hat in the ring, she is yet to confirm.

Renowned businessman Bundotich Kiprop alias Buzeki is the only aspirant who has so far announced that he will run as an independent.

Buzeki who is considered to be a front runner to succeed Governor Mandago whose two terms constitutional limits comes to an end in 2022 said he was waiting for whoever UDA will nominate.

“I am waiting for whoever UDA will nominate then we meet in the premier league,” Buzeki said.

But speaking on Sunday, November 7, in Soy Sub County, Mandago who is currently racing against time to complete all projects he initiated before the end of his term said he wants to leave a clean sheet for his successor.

“I will ensure with the collaboration of MCAs that all pending projects across the county are completed before I leave office,” he said.
