Central Organization for Trade Union (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli says he has acquired KSh 5 million machine to keep of distractors during the Bukhungu II meeting.

Speaking on Wednesday, December 29, when he inspected Bukhungu Stadium where the rally will be held, Atwoli said the machine will listen to all conversations of people planning to disrupt the meeting.

Atwoli further warned those who are planning to cause violence during the event.

Central Organization for Trade Union (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli says he has acquired KSh 5 million machine to keep of distractors during the Bukhungu II meeting.

“No meeting will be held in Western Kenya that day. I have just bought a KSh 5 million machine to detect all those who are planning to disrupt the meeting,” Atwoli said.

The meeting slated for Friday, December 31, is expected to not only name Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the Luhya spokesperson but also to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid ahead of the 2022 elections.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala had on Monday, December 27, threatened to paralyze COTU Boss Francis Atwoli’s much-hyped Bukhungu meeting.

Malala who is eying the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections said the Bukhungu II meeting will not go on as planned unless the vocal unionists get permission from ANC leader Musalia Musadavadi.

“You all know that Kakamega is my political territory. I want to tell the organizers of the said meeting that they must seek Mudavadi’s permission or else their meeting will not happen,

“But because Mudavadi has not given me a nod to allow them to convene their forum, I have officially called it off and no such meeting will happen at the Bukhungu Stadium on the 31st of December,” Malala said.

However, Malala later withdrew her remarks after the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) summoned him for threatening to paralyse the Bukhungu II meeting.
