Azimio Secretary General Junet Mohamed had indicated that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino would represent Raila at the debate.

Immediately after the second in command had started the debate, the ODM legislator arrived at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) ready to represent the 2022 presidential front runner Raila Odinga.

The lawmaker could, however not be allowed in as he had not been designated to partake in the debate.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that all entrants to the venue need clearance from the organizers of the debate. It is thus possible that Babu Owino might not have been cleared as required.

Even then, had he been cleared, no one can represent a presidential candidate in a presidential debate, which is a reserve for Raila and Ruto the only candidates who have scored more than 5 percent in recent opinion polls.

Addressing journalists at the entrance, Owino said the deputy OCPD and his crew denied him entry to CUEA where William Ruto was presenting his case to Kenyans.

Babu said he wanted to get clarification from the second in command about the Arror and Kimwarer money.

“I was nominated by the Azimio secretariat to represent Raila Odinga in this debate. I want to say it categorically that Babu Owino came to tell Kenyans what they need to know, the questions that need to be answered,

“The first question is what happened to Msando, what happened to the ICC witnesses, and what happened to the Arror and Kimwarer money,” Babu Owino said.
