Babu Owino: President Ruto-Uhuru con games still on

by Enock Ndayala

Kenya’s President William Ruto and his successor Uhuru Kenyatta have in recent past appeared to revive their political rivalry six months after the polls.

The two who bitterly fell out during the 2022 presidential campaign have been trading barbs through social media over the opposition’s anti-government protests.

The rift further widened on Thursday, February 2, after President William Ruto’s government scaled down security personnel attached to his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino still believes that ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto are great friends.

While terming Ruto Uhuru’s public spat as “Shameless” the lawmaker said the duo is still playing a con game on Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

“This nonsense of Uhuru and Ruto has started again. The duo shall not hoodwink us this time around. We are wiser. Longest con. The con is still on. Uhuru wants Baba to confide in him as he confides in Ruto. Shameless,” Babu Owino said in a Tweet.

This is not the first time the youthful legislator is claiming that Uhuru played his handshake partner Raila Odinga.

Immediately the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto as the fifth president-elect, Owino claimed Uhuru played Raila.

He thus asked the now Rtd. Head of State to act immediately and see the former Prime Minister declared the fifth president.

Babu, an ardent supporter of the former Prime Minister said retired President Uhuru Kenyatta tactically wanted to hand over power to his deputy William Ruto.

He further claimed that Uhuru had a hand in the Supreme Court presidential petition that upheld the election of William Ruto as the fifth President.

“From how he aided to bring down the BBI, to the campaign period and elections, to the attacks between him and his deputy then up to the Supreme Court ruling. All these, I knew it was a long con,” the legislator said.
