Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri on why Raila will not succeed President Uhuru in 2022

The debate surrounding why Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga lost the presidency is far from over, months after the heated General Election.

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said that it will be too hard for ODM leader Raila Odinga to succeed the retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 elections.

Appearing on K24 TV on Tuesday, December 14, Ngunjiri said Raila could easily beat William Ruto were it not for the ODM leader associating with corrupt people.

He said the ODM boss has surrounded himself with corrupt people who are milking this country dry, a move that will likely deny him a chance to lead the country after President Uhuru’s exit from power.

“The worst thing that will bring Raila down is working with people who are corrupting in this country, he will lose because of that,” Ngunjiri said.

Although the Bahati MP did not mention the names, it was clear that the Tanga Tanga-allied legislator was referring to the Mt Kenya Foundation, a group of wealthy businessmen known to do business with the state through their political connections

Last week, the Mt Kenya Foundation, a group that was apparently tasked by President Uhuru to seek the perfect replacement of the retiring Head of state announced that they had settled on the former Prime Minister.

Political analyst George Wajakoya while appearing on K24’s PunchLine said the Mt Kenya tycoons have corrupted the country by putting their wealth together to bring someone who will protect their businesses.

“If you come in with politics of class and division, capitalistic kind of ideologies of you seeing your businesses under threat and you put your monies together to bring someone who will protect your business that is a corruption of the highest order,” he said.

In several public addresses, President Uhuru has also shown that he would endorse his handshake partner Raila Odinga to succeed him.
