Barrack Muluka: 2022 presidential contest is between Raila Odinga and William Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Former Amani National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Barrack Muluka has said that the 2022 presidential contest is well defined and will be between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, August 10, the communication expert said the die is cast and any politician operating in between is better off making a choice between the two.

“Up to where we are, the (2022) political race has defined itself as a race between Raila Odinga and William Ruto,” he said.

Muluka who resigned from the Musalia Mudavadi-led ANC party a year ago said the One Kenya Alliance principals bringing together Gideon Moi (KANU), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), and Musalia Mudavadi have failed to position themselves as front runners in the race to State House.

“If you are not associated with Raila Odinga or William Ruto’s camp, you have failed to position yourself as a frontrunner,” he added.

Muluka’s statement was echoed by nominated senator Millicent Omanga who implored upon former NASA principals to join the hustler’s camp after their fall out with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“I agree with Barack Muluka. The 2022 race is already defined. It is between Ruto and Raila. Mudavadi, Kalonzo, and Wetang’ula should join hustlers to avoid another bitter betrayal,” she said in a Tweet.

Apart from Raila and Ruto who have publicly declared their interest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and former UNCTAD boss Mukhisa Kituyi are also eying the presidency.

Yesterday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met ODM leader Raila Odinga and the OKA principals in renewed efforts to form a formidable team bringing together ODM, Jubilee, and the One Kenya Alliance to extinguish DP Ruto’s quest for the presidency.

After the meeting which lasted for more than three hours failed to broker a deal, the Head of State assured the opposition chiefs that their antagonism will give Ruto an easy win.
