President William Ruto on Tuesday, September 27, named a list of the Cabinet Secretaries for consideration.
The unveiling of the list happened just hours after the President held a first Cabinet meeting with outgoing CSs who were appointed by former Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.
Only two CSs appointed by William Ruto’s predecessor were retained.
Some of those who were appointed into the cabinet were not captured during William Ruto’s presidential campaigns in the August 9, election.
For instance, former Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) governor Njuguna Ndung’u and Former Kitui Deputy Governor Peninah Malonza were appointed for consideration for the cabinet.
The two were rarely seen drumming up support for the then UDA presidential candidate William Ruto.
This has seen big names and close allies of the Head of State who popularized his candidature left out of the cabinet.
Former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana, and renowned economist David Ndii are among the big names who missed out on President William Ruto’s cabinet.
Ndii was the man behind William Ruto’s bottom-up economic phrase, on which Ruto anchored his campaign manifesto.
UDA chairman Johnson Muthama, and party chief agent Josephat Nanok who was also the director general of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential campaigns were also left out of the 22-member cabinet that was unveiled yesterday.
Former Migori governor Okoth Obado, his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, and former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala were also left out.
According to Nandi Senator Kiprotich Cherargei, the president awarded those footsoldiers who stood by him throughout his journey to State House.
“H.E William Ruto has rewarded loyalty, commitment, and passion to serve his government and the people. The hustler cabinet is going to be transformative, people-centered, and revolutionary,” Cherargei said in a Tweet.
However, all is not lost for close allies of the first in command since Kivumbi.co.ke understands that some ministries are yet to be filled.
Furthermore, the Head of State is yet to name the Principal Secretaries among other government jobs.
