Bishop stops William Ruto’s ally from attacking President Uhuru and Raila in Church

by Amos Khaemba

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi was left in shock when a bishop stopped him from attacking President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga.

On Saturday, March 4, during the Meru leaders’ prayer breakfast Bishop Calisto Odede of CITAM church cut Linturi’s speech short, reminding him that the church is not a place of politicking.

“As I mentioned earlier on, as a church we try to minister to people from different political parties without creating any sense of animosity, in a function like this which is in our church we try to maintain that attitude,

“That everything else comes whether you are UDA, whether you are ODM whether you Jubilee, you are welcome here and you need to feel comfortable here that no one is alienating you, we are against saying negative things that will annoy anyone,” The Bishop stated.

Linturi who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto had to apologize before he could be allowed to finish his address.

“I am sorry these things sometimes can be emotional…I am sorry and I apologize to the church if I have gone beyond,” Linturi said.

“We will only be preaching to one person, the prince, and the lawn of violence in this country because this country does not fight for anything else. The country has been fighting because there is an individual who doesn’t accept election results once they are announced by IEBC,” Linturi had said before being cut short

“When a supreme court notifies an election, a gentleman says I will not go for a repeat election, what do you want us to do? When you have lost an election, somebody now says am the people’s president you find people swearing in themselves.” the senator added in an apparent reference to Raila Odinga.

At the same time, the senator who is also a Meru gubernatorial aspirant called on President Uhuru to ensure law and order is maintained in the country.

“We are at the level whereby people must respect the constitution and the level, and the only guy that I would tell that the standard of responsibility of maintaining law and order in this country is President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Linturi stated.
