Blogger Robert Alai has moved close to being a member of the Nairobi County Assembly after winning the Kileleswa ODM primaries.

On Friday, April 22, the controversial blogger was declared the winner after he narrowly defeated the other three contestants.

Alai got 638 votes against his closest Junior Tollo who got 545 votes, Victoria Angani got 130 votes and Perpetua Okello bagged 364 votes.

Speaking after the win, the outspoken blogger thanked the ODM leader Raila Odinga and the Kileleswa voters for the win.

“Thank you, ODM. Thank you, Baba Raila Odinga. Thank you Wanakileleshwa,” Alai said after being declared the winner.

The controversial blogger will be battling it out with Ayisha Shollei (UDA) for a chance to represent Kileleswa residents in the Nairobi County Assembly.
Residents of Nairobi’s Kileleshwa Ward recently vetted all candidates running for MCAs in the upcoming elections.

Through the Kileleshwa Ward Neighborhood Association (KIWANA), the residents interviewed eleven aspirants who had shown interest in the seat.

“The forum began with the candidates presenting their qualifications, experience, and vision for the ward. The 10-minute segment allowed the residents to hear directly from the candidates who they are and what they can do for the community,” KIWANA said after the vetting.

The organization has scheduled the second phase of vetting following the end of party primaries before settling on a candidate they will support during the August polls.

Alai who is also a cyber-activist had initially declared interest Nyando parliamentary seat before changing his plans last month to vie for the Kileleshwa MCA seat in the August 9 polls.
