During the 2022 election campaigns, Gideon Cheruiyot stuck with Linet Toto who was seeking the Bomet Woman Rep seat.
Cheruiyot, the boda boda rider even fueled his motorbike to ensure that the 24-year-old crisscrosses the county to meet with electorates on time.
Toto even appreciated him for his kindness when making her maiden speech in October 2022.
“He decided to assist me with his boda boda. He fueled it with his own money and took me to the field in the morning and back home in the evening. Gideon, wherever you are, may God bless you,” she stated.
As it is a norm, Kenyans expected that the now Bomet Woman Rep would consider uplifting Cheruiyot’s life as a reward for the work he did.
However, the famous boda boda rider says his life has remained relatively the same despite the fact that she clinched the seat.
Cheruiyot further revealed that even his communication with the UDA legislator has reduced just six months after Toto clinched the seat.
“I was fueling my motorbike as she said, and even while she was appreciating, she was grateful for the work we did together,” he said.
Speaking to Citizen Digital on Friday, February 17, Cheruiyot said that he volunteered for the work he did for Toto during the 2022 campaigns and that he did not want anything in return.
He however said he wouldn’t mind it adding that he is still hopeful that she will come through for him in the not-so-distant future.
“I would want to see her change my life because currently, I am popular around and people always want to see how my life has changed. I’m hoping that after five years, nitaonyeshana matunda yake kama vile matunda yangu ilionekana baada ya kumsaidia,” he said.
