Boni Khalwale: Raila Odinga conned us KSh 200 billion

by Enock Ndayala

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has sensationally claimed that ODM leader Raila Odinga conned them KSh 200 billion after his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Khalwale, President Uhuru gave the former Prime Minister a whopping KSh 200 billion as part of the truce that ended their political rivalry in the famous early 2018 handshake.

Khalwale, a former Ford Kenya legislator revealed that the cash was meant to support all the communities that rallied behind the National Super Alliance (NASA) in the 2017 General Election.

“Rais Uhuru kwa ile heshima alipatia Raila akachukua KSh 200 billion akampa ya kujenga jamii zenye ziliunga NASA mkono zikiwemo jamii za wamijikenda, wakamba, waluyha na waluo,( President Uhuru gave Raila KSh 200 biullion out of the respect he had for him. The money was to empower all communities which supported National Super Alliance (NASA),

“Lakini ajabu ni kwamba out of the KSh 200 billion badala ya Raila kulipa deni ya Mumias na Nzoia sugar ambayo ni KSh 30 billion pekee, Raila alimeza yote akakataa kutupatia hata ndururu (However to our surprise out of the KSh 200 billion instead of Raila paying debts on behalf of Nzoia and Mumias Sugar Companies, he took awarded himself all the money),” Khalwale said.

Khwalale said Raila could have just used KSh 30 billion to offset Nzoia Sugar and Mumias Sugar company’s debts.

Kwalwale who has expressed his interest to succeed outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya further heaped praises for President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The NASA coalition brought together Raila Odinga’s ODM, Ford Kenya (Moses Wetang’ula), Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, and Chama Cha Mashinani led by former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.

However, the once most powerful coalition was rocked with mistrust among the principals, something that could have led to its winding.

In March 2018, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta shook hands with ODM leader Raila Odinga bringing to an end their decade’s political rivalry.

Their truce came just a month after Raila swore himself in as the People’s President claiming that Uhuru stole the elections.
