Chaos as Jimmy Wanjigi attempts to force his way to ODM NDC

by Amos Khaemba

Chaos rocked the Orange Democratic Movement NDC when presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi attempted to force his way into the Kasarani gymnasium.

Jimmy Wanjigi on Saturday, February 26, was roughed up by ODM youths as he tried to make his way inside the Kasarani stadium indoor arena for the ODM National Delegates Convention (NDC).

Wanjigi had arrived at the stadium in a convoy with his supporters in tow and demanded to be allowed in.

The businessman was forced to take shelter at Kasarani Stadium police post as youths threatened to beat him up.

Tension was high which forced police officers to escort the presidential hopeful outside the stadium.

The standoff between the businessman was expected after ODM announced earlier own that Wanjigi won’t access the NDC as he is not a party delegate.

“Whereas Jimmy Wanjigi is listed as a life member of ODM, I can hereby confirm that the said Jimmy Wanjigi is not listed as a delegate from Nairobi County,” Aladwa had said in a statement.

“The ODM Party Nairobi County elections from polling centers, Ward and Branches were held the last year 2021… and I have checked the list of delegates and I have not found his name either from the Polling Centre, Ward, Branch or county level,” added Aladwa.

In an exclusive interview with NTV, on Friday, February 26, Wanjigi insisted that he will attend the ODM event as he is a legitimate delegate from Nairobi County.

“Why does Raila Odinga want to keep me out of a race with him, yet he claims to be a democrat,” Wanjigi.

“I will definitely attend; I am not only a life member but I am also a delegate from Nairobi. So I will attend in that capacity as well as a presidential candidate,” said Wanjigi in the interview.
