Child refuses to take money given by William Ruto

A toddler surprised many on Tuesday, December 7, after refusing to take money given by William Ruto during his campaign in Laikipia County.

From the sun roof of his car, William Ruto carried a child as his ally and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was addressing the crowd.

He then signaled the people in his car to give him some cash to gift the young one.

To his surprise, the child refused to take the money, prompting Ruto to return her to the mother who was among the crowd. He then opted to give the mother the cash money.

The actions captured on Camera have become a topic of discussion, especially among William Ruto’s opponents.

A number of opponents praised the child for refusing the money given by Ruto, while others called out the DP for dishing handouts to children.

“William Ruto shamelessly attempting to force a minor to accept proceeds of corruption. Amekuta huyo mtoto pia hapangwingwi,” ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna wrote in a tweet.

While sharing the video, blogger Robert Alai said the child was aware that it was wrong to take the money from Ruto.

“A child who understands and hates corruption couldn’t be bribed. I am happy for the next generation,” he wrote.

This was not the only controversial happenings during William Ruto’s tour of the Laikipia region.

At one of his rallies there, hecklers tried to shut him down but Ruto stood firm and told them to stop spoiling his meeting.

“Plan your own meeting, stop this stupidity…I will not accept it. You have come to heckle us here? Listen to me, if you do not want orderliness…please don’t come to heckle in my meeting. Everyone should organize his own meeting… this is mine,” William Ruto said amid commotion from the crowd.
