Chris Kirubi: Politicians pour moving tributes to fallen billionaire

Business man and Media mogul Chris Kirubi died on Monday afternoon June 14 after a long battle with colon cancer.

His sudden- though expected passing on was announce through a brief statement from the family.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Christopher J. Kirubi (1941-2021) who passed away today, Monday the 14th of June, 2021 at 1 pm at his home after a long battle with cancer fought with fortitude, grace, and courage. He was surrounded by his family,” the statement read.

In his 80 years on earth, Kirubi was not only a businessman but also a key player in the country’s political scene.

“I have received the shocking news of the passing away of my friend Chris Kirubi with alot sadness. The cruel hand of death has robbed our nation of a patriot whose enterprenuerial spirit, hardwork and determination saw him create some of our country’s largest enterprises which offer employment to thousands of our people,” President Uhuru mourned.

Additionally, he celebrated him as one of the most accessible businesspersons, who would show up at the most unsuspected moments.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga remembered Kirubi as a personal friend.

“Chris Kirubi was my friend and one to many others and a mentor to even more. He was a dedicated entrepreneur and philanthropist who helped scores of Kenyans over time. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Rest in Peace Chris,” Raila Odinga Wrote.

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi described the billionaire industrialist as an astute businessman witha great sense of humour.

Some of the Multimillion companies owned by Kirubi include;

1.Centum – A real Estate company.

2. Capital FM- Radio station

3. Haco Industries- Deals with Manufacture of plastic products and,

4. International House Building in Nairobi

Other than running businesses, Kirubi was also a Deejay at his Radio station, Capital FM, and was popularly known as DJ CK in the showbiz industry.
