Chris Wamalwa: President Uhuru and Raila Odinga have fooled Luhyas for long

by Amos Khaemba

Ford Kenya Secretary General Chris Wamalwa has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga of neglecting the Western region’s development agenda.

Speaking on Citizen TV Newsnight program, Wamalwa said Mudavadi had no option but to forge a new political relationship that will benefit the Luhya community.

His comments come a few days after ANC leader Mudavadi joined ranks with Deputy President William Ruto, Wamalwa said the move was a result of broken promises by President Uhuru made to the Western region.

Wamalwa pointed out that, the Western region’s development agenda has not been given priority by Uhuru’s administration during his tenure as the Head of State.

“The Mulembe nation has been fooled enough and they have decided to look for friends who are trustworthy, who can be able to improve the welfare of the people,” Wamalwa said.

The Kiminini lawmaker accused the former premier Raila Odinga, of sidelining the Western region during a ‘handshake’ with President Kenyatta.

“The Jubilee government has never done anything. At the moment, we have the handshake; Mudavadi and Wetangula were together with Raila in NASA but this was not a trusted friend,

“The little goodies that Raila managed to get from the handshake went to the Nyanza region and the Western region never benefitted,” Wamalwa said.

Wamalwa’s criticism of the two handshake partners comes after President Kenyatta hosted a section of political leaders from the Western region to discuss the development agenda of the region.

Wamalwa lashed out at the group of Western leaders who attended the State House meeting saying President Kenyatta has limited time that cannot initiate any meaningful development project.

“And now during the election period, you are running to State House for meetings in the pretense of saying that you went to look for development when there is no time for President Kenyatta,” said the Kiminni lawmaker
