Cleophas Malala ‘scored D-‘ in Mathematics, cannot be good governor

Kakamega businessman Cleophas Shimanyula has vowed to exploit his wealth to ensure his namesake and Kakamega Senator, Senator Cleophas Malala does not win the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in the upcoming election.

Speaking to Nyota TV on Tuesday, March 29, Shimanyula who is arguably amongy the richest man in Kakamega County said the UDA gubernatorial flag bearer scored a D- hence cannot handle the county finances.

“Malala scored a D- (Minus) in Mathematics, he cannot handle county finances. I will spend three-quarters of my wealth to campaign for Fernandes Barasa,” he said.

He said that of all the gubernatorial candidates, it is only Fernandes Barasa who has the ability to manage the county finances due to the high level of experience he got while at the helm of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) company.

“Fernandes amekuwa CEO wa KETRACO… amehandle more than KSh50 billion, KSH30 billion, and even 6KSh 5 billion na ameindesha bila wasiwasi licha ya changamoto kidogo kidogo za hapa na pale,”

“(Fernandes has been the CEO of KETRACO. He has handled more than KSh 50 billion, KSh 30 billion, and even KSh 65 billion and has run smoothly despite a few minor challenges here and there)” Shimanyula said.

The businessmanw further opined that although the regional balance may factor out both Malala and Fernandes from winning, Shimanyula said Barasa had an upper hand due to other factors including Raila’s support.

Malala is expected to square it out with ODM’s Fernandes Barasa for the top county seat after former senator Boni Khalwale dropped out of the race.

Apart from Barasa and Malala, Ayub Savula and Philip Kutima who are set to square it on nomination under DAP Kenya will also be in the ring to attempt to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who will be exiting after serving for two terms.

According to records in parliament seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, the vocal legislator holds a Diploma in TV and Film Production from East Africa School of Medi.

He oalso holds a Degree certofoicate from United States International University (USIU) where he is currently pursuing his Master’s degree.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) stipulates that for one to be cleared to contest for a county governorship position, one must be a holder of a degree from a University recognized in Kenya.
