Comedian Jalang’o to quite Lang’ata constituency race if he loses nominations

by Enock Ndayala

Media personality Felix Odiwor alias Jalang’o has said that he will not enter into the flooded Lang’ata constituency race as an independent candidate.

According to him, he will quash his dream of unseating Lang’ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir in the August 9, General Election if he loses in the nominations.

Unlike other aspirants who opt to vie as an independent candidate when they lose in the primaries, the comedian turned politician said the only sure way he can win the seat is to vie on a Raila Odinga-led coalition ticket.

Media personality Felix Odiwor alias Jalang’o has said that he will not enter into the flooded Lang’ata constituency race as an independent candidate.

“I will simply wash my hands from the race if I don’t get nominated under Azimio la Umoja ticket,” he said.

While exuding confidence that he will beat his archrivals in the nominations, Jalang’o said that he is ready to support whoever wins the Azimio la Umoja ticket.

“The journey for Lang’ata is on but we have the biggest battle right now; that is, the nominations for us to see who will fly the Azimio card,” he said.

In July 2021, the comic, an ardent supporter of ODM leader Raila Odinga expressed his ambitions to contest for the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat in this year’s General Election.

The comedian-cum radio presenter urged youths to turn out in large numbers to register as voters to help him achieve his ambition.

“I am going to be the MP for Lang’ata. I urge my followers to register as voters in Lang’ata so that we can develop the constituency to another level. I don’t go for things I cannot get,” Jalas said.

Jalang’o is expected to battle it out with Silas Jakakimba, a senior advisor at the Raila Odinga’s Capitol Hill-based Secretariat for the nomination certificate.

On Wednesday, February 9, the radio presenter officially tendered his resignation as per the guidelines by the Media Council of Kenya.
