However, on Tuesday, August 15, the body of Daniel Musyoka was found dumped in Lotiktok Sub-County, Kajiado County

“The body of the deceased has been identified as of one Daniel Mbolu Musyoka by his sisters namely Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya at Loitoktok Sub-County mortuary,

“He is aged 53 years and had reported a case of a missing person. He was serving as a returning officer at Embakasi East polling station,” police said in a statement.

On Friday, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said that Musyoka left his house around 9 am in the company of his security guard and arrived at the tallying center at around 9.45 am.

However, 45 minutes later, the 50-year-old returning officer excused himself for a call but he never returned prompting his deputy to take over and announced the results.

“At around 0945hrs he excused himself for a call but never returned till now. His mobile phone is off. His duties at the tallying center are being conducted by the assistant returning officer,” he said.

Chebukati asked the police to expedite investigations into the disappearance of their official.

“I call upon the police to step up investigations to find him,” Chebukati said at Bomas during an update on the presidential results.

Musyoka, who has worked for the electoral agency for 13 years had been posted to Loitoktok but was later transferred to Embakasi East just days before the August 9, General Election without a clear explanation.

While declaring the presidential results, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati raised concerns that some of the officials had been arrested, and injured while others were yet to be traced

“I stand before you despite intimidation and harassment. I have done my duty according to the laws of the land,” Chebukati said.
