For instance, Kirinyaga gubernatorial ballot papers were delivered in Mumias East Sub-County, Kakamega County.

Area returning officer Joseph Ayatta confirmed that indeed the ballot papers for Kirinyaga county governor were safely delivered in Kakamega but said he will issue a detailed report later in the day.

“It is true the ballot papers were found. We will issue a comprehensive statement later,” he said.

A similar case was witnessed in Garissa and Kilifi Counties.

In Mombasa, one pallet of IEBC ballot papers for Kilifi County was found in Mombasa.

Election officials in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County discovered that they had received ballot papers for Fafi Ward in Garissa.

The returning officer for Chuka confirmed the mix-up but assured voters that they will cast their votes as planned.

He said he had contacted the IEBC headquarters in Nairobi and that a chopper had been sent to deliver the required ballot papers and take the ones that were earlier delivered to their designated polling stations.

“But that has been sorted. We have informed our Nairobi office and they are organizing for a chopper to bring the ones for our ward and it take these ones where they are supposed to be,” Raka said.

With just hours to the voting day, a section of players has raised concerns over what they term election malpractices which have seen four officials of IEBC dismissed.
