“that is Bukhungu 2 to determine and to listen to Luhya leaders and plan a sense of direction as to who -among the leaders who have declared their presidential candidature- people should listen to,” Atwoli said.

The vocal unionist further asked Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula to also attend and convince the region that he is best placed to be the Luyha spokesperson.

He challenged the One Kenya Alliance principal to publicly announce who he shall work with in the much-awaited 2022 presidential elections.

“And if Moses Masika Wetang’ula is also a presidential candidate, let him come to Bukhungu and tell the people who is he collaborating with and how strong and effective he is,” he said.

In June 2017, Atwoli installed ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as the Luhya spokesperson ahead of the general polls that year.

The declaration followed a survey conducted by a team from the University of Nairobi (UoN) faculty of Political Science between July and November 2016.

Musalia garnered 39 percent while his new-found ally and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya tied at 30 percent each.
