by Amos Khaemba

President Uhuru Kenyatta was left in stitches after the Council of Governors Chair Martin Wambora said he had forgotten his official speech in Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe’s car.

Wambora who had just taken to the podium to make his speech realized immediately after salutation that he was reading a wrong speech.

“On behave of the council of governors I take this opportunity to express my pleasure to be part of this national launch from the onset…..eh eh yours excellency hii ni ile nilisoma kule ( your excellency this is the one I read earlier on),” Wambora said as President Uhuru and others broke into laughter.

The Embu governor searched the right speech in his bag but he was in vain, only to hilariously claim that he forgot it in Kagwe’s car.

“Sawa sawa hiyo ingine nilisahau kwa gari ya minister for health, lakini ni sawa, ( It is alright, the other speech I left it in the vehicle belonging to the cabinet secretary for health),” Wambora said.

This happened on Monday, February 7, during the roll out of the Universal Health Coverage progame at Port Reitz Sub County Hosptial in Mombasa.

Speaking at the event President Uhuru Kenyatta revealed that his government has recruited over 15000 workers under the UHC and Covid management program.

“Over 15000 workers have been recruited under UHC and Covid management programs. We have also made significant progress in HIV, TB and malaria programs,” President Uhuru said.

The head of state further revealed that his administration has initiated various programs on health infrastructure that have seen an increase of 43% in public health facilities, 502% in ICU capacity and 47% in bed capacity.
