The recently formed One Kenya Alliance could be headed for tought times after Amani Natiional Congress Musalai Mudavadi said he wants to be the presidential flag bearer.
Speaking in Emuhaya sub-county earlier this week, Mudavadi said he gave others a chance in 2017 after he emerged position three in the 2013 presidential election but not this time around.
“After my candidature in 2013 where I was position three, so many people accused me that I am not a team player and I am not supportive and I gave them a chance in 2017 (to be presidential candidates) but we are still in opposition (since they failed to win the presidency),
“This time we are going to faceoff against each other. I won’t leave anything to chance,” Mudavadi told the Star.
One Kenya Alliance brings together KANU leader Gideon Moi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula besides Musalia Mudavadi.
No doubt, both shall aim to fly the coalition’s flag in 2022 and Musalia’s demands might not be received well by his coalition partners.
Besides Kalonzo Musyoka (2007), Musalaia Mudavadi is the only other person who has contested for the presidency.
Kivumbi.co.ke clearly understands that Musalia has been organizing a series of meetings with other leaders across the country with the intention of gaining their support.
About a week ago, the leader appeared to be camping on Mount Kenya and became the third presidential hopeful after Raila Odinga and William Ruto scramble for a portion of the vote-rich region.
This comes at a time when Kenya’s power brokers are angling for Musalia Mudavadi-Gideon Moi pair, in what is considered safe pair of hands to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
