Dennis Itumbi in trouble for linking businessman with UDA

by Nderi Caren

William Ruto allied blogger Dennis Itumbi is in trouble with a Nairobi businessman after linking him with UDA party.

Business Mike Maina took Itumbi to court after he claimed that he mobilized his employees to support a UDA candidate in the Kiambaa by-elections that were held on July 15.

In one of his famous Hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau (HNIB) reports on twitter, Itumbi shared that Maina got his 3,500 employees to vote for Njuguna Wanjiku despite taking money from deep state.

As a result, Justice Jaden Thuranira barred Dennis Itumbi from publishing or making any defamatory statements against the city billionaire.

Through his lawyer Ocheing Oduor, Maina argued that Itumbi tainted his image by saying that he pocketed money from the ‘deep state.’

The billionaire further said that Itumbi’s post has exposed him to ridicule, with his fellow businessmen questioning his character.

“As a consequence of this our client has been brought to pubic hatred, pillory, ridicule, contempt, odium and will be disgraced, humiliated, subjected to untold embarrassment and ostracized for which he holds you liable,” read a court document from Maina’s lawyer.

The blogger has been running his Hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau (HNIB) reports on social media, exposing Deputy President William Ruto’s opponents.

Through the HNIB reports, Itumbi has been sharing details of discussions held between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s strategists.

Before being sued by the tycoon, Milimani law courts found Itumbi guilty of spreading fake information on a plan to assassinate DP William Ruto.

In 2019, Itumbi revealed that Ruto’s opponents met at La Mada hotel in Nairobi to plan his assassination.

He claimed to have video and audio clips of the secret meeting by Ruto’s opponents.

This led to his arrest and detention at the Muthaiga police station.
