Details of Raila Odinga’s meeting with Kikuyu elders

by

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga held a meeting with Kikuyu council of elders today at his Karen home.

Raila, who shared a meal with elders, said they discussed the effects of tribal politics adding that tribal politics have had massive destruction on the state of the country.

“I enjoyed a thoughtful discussion at my home over a meal with members of the Kikuyu Council of Elders led by their Chair Wachira Kiago. A conversation about moving our Country forward not on the patchy path of tribal lines that have and continue to occasion annihilation,” he said after the meeting.

The meeting which was held on Friday, April 30, at Raila’s official residence in Karen comes barely months after DP William Ruto met with the leadership of the Kikuyu National Council of Elders, headed by its patron Captain Kung’u Muigai who is also President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin. Raila, who has been receiving guests at his Karen residence in the recent past, is believed to be working with anyone who will ensure he defeats William Ruto and ascend to power in August 2022.

This will however not be a walk in the park without the support from the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region.

The elders to Raila home were led by former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth who is believed to be angling for a big political position in next year’s election:>

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that this is not the first meeting between Raila Odinga and the Kikuyu council of elders.

In October 2020, Kung’u Muigai, Peter Kenneth and David Murathe led Mt. Kenya elders to Raila’s rural home in Bondo.
