Opposition leader Raila Odinga is on Monday, January 23, expected to jet back into the country.
Raila who has been in South Africa is expected to land at around 11 am and thereafter proceed to Kamkunji grounds where he will issue the next step after a whistleblower claimed that he won the elections with 8 million votes.
“Upon arrival, Raila will proceed to the Kamukunji Grounds in Kamukunji constituency for a people’s baraza consultations with the public where they will discuss the recent disclosures by a whistleblower on the conduct of the 2022 General Election,” Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango said.
However, speaking on Sunday, January 22, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua took a back sit and let him deal with the former Prime Minister.
“Rais wetu nakuomba, kwa niaba ya wale wote tunakusaidia, hii mambo ya huyu mzee (Raila Odinga) tuwachie, dawa ya huyo mtu ni mtoto wa Mau Mau wewe kaa kando,” Gachagua said.
Loosely translated to: “Our president, I am asking you, on behalf of all those we are helping you, to leave the affairs of this old man (Raila Odinga) to me the antidote to that man is the son of mau mau…you stay aside.”
The second in command said that Raila has a record of destroying governments of the day so that he can squeeze himself into the government.
“You came to destroy the Moi government in 1997….in 2007 you came with nusu mkate…. in 2013 you tried and failed….. in 2017 you instilled fear in Uhuru and he called you for a handshake and destroyed government,” he said.
While asking the president not to fall for Raila’s threats, Gachagua insisted that he was the real son of a mau mau fighter and that he will not allow the former Prime Minister to have another handshake.
“I am the real Mau Mau for Raila…give us a week or so we deal with them and then come back to work for the coffee and tea for our farmers,” the DP added.
