Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Committee (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati was on Thursday, September 28, expected to appear before the National Dialogue Committee.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sensationally claimed that opposition leader Raila Odinga attempted to bribe IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to declare him president.

Speaking in Bomet on Sunday, January 15, the second in command revealed that Raila sent his people to the Bomas of Kenya with KSh 1 billion to subvert the will of Kenyans.

“People were sent to try and bribe Chebukati with KSh1 billion to announce call the election in favor of the other candidate but he refused. They even sent the head of the military but did not budge,” Gachagua said.

The former Mathira Member of parliament further disclosed that President William Ruto was aware of the move to rob him of his win in the hotly contested August 9, presidential elections.

He, however, said Ruto together with his wife Rachael Ruto went to the national tallying center where they knelt down and prayed to ensure that their win is upheld.

“The president had been told to wait to be called to the national tallying center but he insisted on going. Together with Mama Rachel, Pastor Dorcas, and I, they knelt down and prayed to cast out the demons,” Gachagua added.

According to the official results announced by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday, August 15, Ruto polled 7.1 million votes against Raila’s 6.9 million votes.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga later protested the presidential results announced by Chebukati at the Supreme Court of Kenya.

However, the seven judges of the Apex court dismissed Raila’s presidential petition terming it as nothing but hot air.

Commenting on the verdict, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga sensationally claimed that UDA presidential candidate William Ruto paid Supreme Court president Martha Koome to the tune of KSh 1.5 billion to dismiss her father’s presidential petition

“Judges were paid a billion a piece. Chief Justice KSh 1.5 billion,” Winnie Odinga said in a Tweet.
