DP Gachagua insists government jobs are for people who campaigned for President Ruto

by Enock Ndayala
It has now emerged that a division is brewing within the ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has for a second time made it clear that the Kenya Kwanza government jobs are a preserve of those who campaigned for William Ruto in 2022.

During a joint interview with television stations in the country, the second in command reiterated that all those who were opposed to the Kenya Kwanza agenda will not be considered for government jobs.

“The people who were opposing President William Ruto saying he is a thief, incapable of running a government, he has no agenda and that the Bottom-Up economic agenda is useless… there is no way we can invite those people to the Cabinet,” Gachagua said.

The former Mathira MP further wondered how those who opposed the Kenya Kwanza government can help the same government achieve its set goals.

“If you dint believe in the government, how do you complain about being discriminated against by a government you don’t recognize?” he posed.

During a tour in Kericho county early last month, the deputy president declared that government appointments and contracts are a preserve of those who voted for the Kenya Kwanza government.

Gachagua said that the Kenya Kwanza government will reward its staunch supporters and those who toiled to put the current government in office and give the least consideration to members of the opposition.

“I join hands with you (President Ruto) 100 percent but in your government, I am on the frontline to ensure that those who reap, harvest,” Gachagua said.

He said that he was not bitter but was just being truthful.

People mistake bitterness for honesty. We harbor no bitterness.” said Rigathi.
