by Enock Ndayala

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and second lady Dorcas Rigathi on Friday, April 7, walked eight kilometers to pay to celebrate Good Friday with his aunt.

The deputy president took to his official social media pages and shared his photos en route to his auntie’s place on foot accompanied by his spouse Dorcas Gachagua.

In a statement, the former Mathira Member of Parliament reminisced about using the route to get yellow passion fruits in the ’70s.

“I woke up early this morning to visit my Auntie Gladys Gathoni. As I walked to her home, which is 8 kilometers away with my wife Pastor Dorcas, it brought back memories of similar journeys I made to her home in the seventies to get yellow passion fruits,” Gachagua said.

In his lengthy write-up, the second in command showered the villagers with praises for being hardworking, aggressive, and focused.

“On the way, I came across my village mates whom we grew up with. We exchanged greetings and shared lots of laughter. Our people remain hard-working, aggressive, and focused,” he added.

At his aunt, Gachagua was served with typical village delicacies of boiled maize and porridge.

He revealed that his visit bored fruits as he was prayed or by his only remaining aunt as he helps President William Ruto to run the country.

“My auntie prayed for me, blessed me, and treated me to a heavy breakfast of boiled maize and porridge,

“Parents are a blessing and we must always take care of them, especially in old age,” the DP added.

“Seeing her makes me remember my late mother, who looked exactly like her and talked like her. Parents are a blessing, and we must always take care of them, especially in old age,” Gachagua explained.

The couple donned tracksuits and hiking shoes with Gachagua wearing a grey hoodie decorated with a cartoon of himself as well as his nickname ‘Riggy G’.
