DP Gachagua wants to meet girl who nicknamed him ‘Riggy G’

During the Music Festival finals on Friday, September 23, in Kisumu, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he was aware that a section of Kenyans have been calling him ‘Riggy G’.

The name Riggy G was coined by content creator Ivy Chelimo during the July 19, presidential debate.

Chelimo tweeted the name first during the deputy presidential debate on July 19 held at the Catholic University.

The nickname was among the trending topic on Twitter during the inauguration ceremony held at the Kasarani stadium on Tuesday, September 13.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, October 2, the second in command promised to reward Chelimo for coming up with his viral nickname Riggy G.

Gachagua revealed that he had instructed his son to look for the girl so that she could have dinner with him.

“I have told my sons to look for that girl so that she comes we have dinner,” Gachagua said.

The former Mathira MP said he was ready to support the content creator so that she can be able to do something in her life.

“I would see what I can do for her so that from my salary, I can be able to boost her little bit to be able to do some things,” he added.

Chelimo in her latest interview with the media explained how she came up with the name Riggy G.

In her interview with NTV on Friday, September 16, the content creator said she coined the name after realizing that Gachagua had won the hearts of many during the heated deputy presidential interview at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).

“You know how you can’t actually mention a politician just because sometimes you don’t want that traction on your page? That was me then but I was like let me just mention him because he was winning the debate anyway,” she said.
