by Enock Ndayala

On Monday, June 6, Garissa Township MP Aden Duale and the 2022 presidential election front runner William Ruto started a week-long campaign in the North-Eastern region that will end on Friday, June 10.

The Kenya Kwanza team started off with a marathon economic forum in Garissa where the UDA presidential candidate solicited development views from the residents.

The team engaged farmers, small traders, grassroots leaders, opinion-shapers, and professionals, among others, from Garissa County on their Bottom-Up Economic Plan.

On Tuesday, June 7, the brigade then held a series of stopovers in the region which were characterized by dramatic scenes.

Duale encountered a security breach after an unidentified man grabbed his pants, sending the lawmaker into panic and forcing him to halt his speech.

In a video scene by Kivumbi.co.ke, the former National Assembly majority leader Duale was scene trying to defend himself from being undressed by the unidentified man.

It was not immediately established why the man tried to take hold of Aden Duale’s trousers and hold it but it is suspected that he was looking for publicity.

Duale’s bodyguards immediately swung into action and rescued their boss from the embarrassment and asked the men in black suits to just leave the man alone.

Speaking during the rallies, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flag bearer William Ruto asked Garissa residents to look out for their interests first even as they prepare to cast their votes in the August 9 presidential elections.

He further took a swipe at Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya flag bearer Raila Odinga for his style of politics saying that he does not have something new to offer Kenyans.

“Our competitors are not even aware of current challenges; they are talking about 1960’s issues. How will individuals who don’t understand your challenges to be able to address them?” the DP posed.
