Edward Kisiang’ani: Tuju, Kimunya have no moral authority to demand Ruto’s resignation

William Ruto’s political adviser and strategist, Edward Kisiang’ani has dismissed calls by some ruling Jubilee party officials for Deputy President William Ruto’s resignation.

In a Tweet on Monday, September 6, Kisiang’ani said Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and National Assembly Majority leader Amos Kimunya have no moral authority to demand William Ruto’s resignation as the ruling party has committed the same mistake they are accusing Ruto of.

“The Jubilee top brass, led by Kimunya and Tuju, has asked William Ruto to resign for promoting the activities of a different party. I ask Kimunya and Tuju to look over their own shoulders and determine if they have the moral fiber to condemn Ruto,” Kisiang’ani said.

William Ruto’s political adviser and strategist, Edward Kisiang’ani has brushed aside pressure from some Jubilee party officials pushing for Deputy President William Ruto’s resignation.

The tweet came after the duo launched a scathing attack on the deputy president where Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya called on Ruto to act on his conscience and resign since he was no longer working on behalf of the Jubilee government.

“He should just consider resigning (from Jubilee party for showing open allegiance to a different party),” Kimunya said.

Speaking at party headquarters, Jubilee Secretary General also accused the former Eldoret North MP of ditching the party that sponsored him to office for his new outfit, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

But according to Kisiang’ani, the Jubilee party supported Orange Democratic Movement candidates in Msambweni and Kibra by-elections, which could well be considered an offence under the political parties Act and as such should not demonise William Ruto for showing allegiance to United Democratic Party, (UDA)

William Ruto has openly declared he will vie for the presidency on a United Democratic Alliance party ticket after falling out with the Jubilee party, which he and his boss Uhuru Kenyatta formed by collapsing about 12 political parties ahead of the 2017 General Election.

Despite being Jubilee party deputy leader, Ruto is considered the de facto party leader of UDA and has been moving around the country drumming up support for the alliance, much to the anger of the majority of Jubilee party leadership.

Several other allies of Ruto shifted allegiance from Jubilee party to UDA, prompting Raphael Tuju to challenge them to resign and vie afresh for their elective seats.

Two weeks ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta dared his deputy William Ruto to resign if he is not pleased with the Jubilee Government.

Uhuru said this barely a month after the deputy president formally announced that Jubilee, their former house, had collapsed beyond irreversible levels adding that the hustler-allied politicians have found a new home and would exit Jubilee party at the most opportune time.

“People make choices at the opportune moment … when they think different choices are necessary,

“We are not guests in any place. We join parties by choice and leave by choice. Nobody should ask why we are still here,” said Ruto when asked why he was still in a government that he believes has failed to deliver on its pre-election pledges.
