Edwin Sifuna: Kalonzo Musyoka is better presidential candidate than Mudavadi

by Enock Ndayala

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has sensationally claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is a better presidential candidate than his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, January 18, Sifuna, who has announced plans to contest for Nairobi senatorial seat, said Kalonzo has got more numbers than Mudavadi.

He said the former Sabatia Member of Parliament’s political base has shrunk and that his Amani National Party has been reduced to a village party.

Already some ANC footsoldiers including deputy party leader Ayub Savula have since ditched the outfit.

“There is no formula in One Kenya Alliance that puts Musalia Mudavadi above Kalonzo Musyoka…You can use any formulae by even visiting witchdoctor and they will still show you that Kalonzo Musyoka is a stronger presidential canidate in terms of numbers than Musalia Mudavadi,

“I can tell you today, even if you combine the votes of the four luyha principals in OKA including (Former National Assembly speaker Kenneth) Marende who joined the coalition recently, they don’t get to half of the support that Kalonzo Musyoka has,” Sifuna said.

Sifuna said, unlike Kalonzo who enjoys the massive support of the Kamba community, Mudavadi on the other hand does not have even the support of the Luyha nation since the former Prime Minister commands a bigger Luhya support than Mudavadi.

“In fact, more than 70 percent of Luhyas are behind Raila Odinga and it is not because someone has told us to support him,” Sifuna said.

Both Mudavadi and Kalonzo are among the four OKA principals including Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula of Ford Kenya and KANU chair Gideon Moi seeking to fly the coalition’s flag bearer in the August 9, 2022 elections.

Last week, the One Kenya Alliance technical committee placed the Wiper leader as the best presidential flag bearer with Mudavadi emerging the second.
