Edwin Sifuna: President Ruto will be responsible if anything happens to Raila

by Enock Ndayala
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has assured President William Ruto that he will still lose in the 2027 presidential race even if he names Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his presidential running mate.

President William Ruto on Wednesday, March 15, said he was not worried about ODM leader Raila Odinga’s planned demonstrations.

Ruto spoke at State House, Nairobi when he met a delegation of leaders from Trans Nzoia county led by Governor George Natembeya welcomed Raila’s anti-government protests terming it as a “fair challenge.”

“And we must tell my good friend Raila Odinga enough is enough. You cannot continue to blackmail the country,” President Ruto said.

On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who has on record boasted of being the son of a mau mau said he has the final solution to Raila Odinga.

As such, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna now claims that they are worried about Raila’s life following remarks by a top government official.

“We are concerned about some pronouncements that are being made by leaders and especially Gachagua,” Sifuna said.

The ODM Secretary General who was addressing journalists at State House precincts on Thursday, March 16, said Kenya’s President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua will be responsible in case anything happens to any Azimio member during the Monday, March 20, protests.

“Should anything happen to Raila Odinga or any member or leader of the Azimio coalition Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto will be held responsible,” he added.

The ODM legislator further added that the opposition has information that the Kenya Kwanza government was after eliminating members of the opponent.

“We have confirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration is a regime built on the elimination of political opponents,” Sifuna said.

Odinga announced the start of mass action, which includes boycotts of key services, last week in what will culminate in a major demonstration in the capital Nairobi.
