Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has warned the Mt. Kenya region of the dangers of being divided ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during a church function in the region last weekend, the former CS told residents to stop boasting about having numbers yet they are being slowly divided by 2022 presidential hopefuls.

“If there is no unity of numbers, you are just lying to anyone else. So do not go boasting that the Gikuyu, Meru, and Embu are the majority. That is a lie, you are divided,” eX-CS Mwangi Kiunjuri said.

He gave the Mt Kenya region a scenario of how 2022 presidential hopefuls are pitching camp in the area, seeking a running mate.

According to Kiunjuri, this will only weaken the tyranny of numbers that the Mt Kenya region enjoys.

“Right now, Raila Odinga wants a running mate from Mt Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi wants a running mate from Mt Kenya, KalonzoMusyoka wants a running mate from Mt Kenya, William Ruto also wants a running mate from Mt Kenya. What is the end result?,” he asked.

Kiunjuri, who is an ardent supporter of DP William Ruto said that the Mt Kenya numbers mean nothing if the region is not fully behind him.

“The end result is that you will take 200,000 votes to Raila, 300, 000 to Musalia, 200,000 to Kalonzo. Even if you take the rest to William Ruto, he will still not win in the first round. There will be a re-run (in the presidential race),” the ex-CS said.

The Mt. Kenya region has been identified to be a battling ground for presidential hopefuls because it has close to 8 Million voters.

They also reported the highest percentage of voter turn-out in the 2017 General Election, like in many other elections.

On his part, Mwangi Kiunjuri is a concerned party in the unity of Mt. Kenya region because he is focused on becoming DP William Ruto running mate in the 2022 General Election.

Mwangi Kiunjuri, who is The Service Party(TSP) leader has publicly stated that his party will front candidates in other elective positions, but their choice of president is William Ruto.
