Ex-CS Rashid Echesa’s warning to President Uhuru in case Ruto hires him

by Enock Ndayala

Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has threatened to deal with President Uhuru Kenyatta should Deputy President William Ruto win the presidency.

Speaking in Busia County during a Kenya Kwanza alliance delegates meeting on Tuesday, March 29, Echesa urged the president to seek forgiveness for sacking him from the Sports docket in February 2019.

He further accused President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration of mistreating leaders allied to his estranged deputy president stating that he would camp at Uhuru’s door if given the Internal Security docket under the UDA government.

“Let him pray that I am not given any role in the Ministry of Interior or ‘Internal Security’.

“I will camp at your (President Uhuru) doorstep in Gatundu South until you refund Kenyans their money. And let us not be threatened by anyone again,” Rashid Echesa said.

Echesa advised the first in command to immediately start mending fences with his deputy president before they form the next government.

“Owing to our belief and trust in God, we promise to forgive you when we form the next government. However, if you remain adamant and decline to conform, please be ready to refund the state funds you have looted,” Echesa warned.

Echesa’s remarks are contrary to what the deputy president promised his boss if he wins the country’s top seat.

Ruto, who was speaking in Murang’a on Sunday, March 20, assured President Uhuru Kenyatta that if elected, he would protect his legacy and that of his family.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential flagbearer said he considers himself to be Uhuru’s best friend and that he will not betray the friendship he has cultivated with the Head of State for more than two decades.
