Ex-MP Kabando Wa Kabando believes a Raila presidency is very close

by Enock Ndayala

Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has said that a Raila Odinga president is increasingly becoming a reality as the country approaches the 2022 General Election.

The former Member of Parliament said he has met several Presidential candidates and that the ODM leader is increasingly winning people’s hearts more than any other contender for the country’s top seat.

While acknowledging the efforts being made by Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 State House race, the former legislator believes that the ODM leader would easily beat other presidential aspirants.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has pulled back his earlier claims that Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto’s hustler narrative resonates well on the ground saying that a Raila Odinga president is increasingly becoming a reality.

“Recently privileged to meet and consult William Ruto, Mukhisa Kituyi, Reuben Kigame, and Raila Odinga. One day in politics is an eternity,

“Even (with) William Ruto’s energetic campaign, a Raila (Odinga) Presidency is increasingly becoming a possibility,” he said in a Tweet.

In June, Kabando Wa Kabando had showered William Ruto’s hustler narrative with praises saying that it resonates well on the ground suggesting Ruto would easily beat opposition chief Raila Odinga.

“Today, you may not like William Ruto but his messaging is resonating on the ground,” Kabando said.

The ex-lawmaker claimed the hustler nation was growing because President Uhuru Kenyatta had neglected the people who voted for him in the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections.

“First, it is a failure by the president by not addressing issues in his own backyard. Secondly, those close to him are now parading themselves as a community to make demands,” he said.

Even though the former Prime Minister has not declared his ambitions for the presidency, it is now crystal clear that the five-time presidential contender will be on the ballot come 2022.

So far, Raila has received the backing of the Mt Kenya Foundation, a group that has over the years played a critical role in ensuring who becomes the president.
