The daughter of former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale scored 402 marks in the just-released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

Khalwale took to Twitter on Monday, March 28, to congratulate his daughter Melissa Khamwenyi Khalwale for her exemplary performance.

“My family and I, in 1000 special ways thank God, the teaching and non-teaching staff of Malinya Primary School and Kakamega Hill Junior School for the 402,” he said.

Khamwenyi was among the over 1.2 million candidates who wrote exams between March 7-9 2021.

While releasing the results at the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) headquarters in Nairobi, Education CS George Magoha announced that the first student in the KCPE exams was Magata Bruce Mckenzie of Gilgil Hills Academy, who scooped 428 marks.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that this is not the first child of a Kakamega senatorial hopeful to have performed exemplary in her national examination.

In 2019, the daughter of former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale scored 396 marks.

In 2017, the Politician also publicly congratulated his children for scoring 407 and 406 marks in KCPE.

Last week, Khalwale hit news headlines when he dropped his Kakamega gubernatorial bid in favor of Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala ahead of the August 9, General Election.

On Wednesday, March 23, the vocal politician said that the move to shelve his gubernatorial ambitions was reached after meeting Kenya Kwanza principals William Ruto (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya).

Khalwale said that someone was using them as pawns so that they fight each other, a move he said would scuttle William Ruto from winning the Western votes.

“I, therefore, want to confirm that being a student of Michael Wamalwa Kijana, who taught us that when you step back one step, it makes it easier for your community to gain more,

“I want to announce to the people of my community that when you are a utility player, you accept the position that your coach deploys you to. Today I am pleased to inform the rest of the country that I will be vying for the position of senator of Kakamega County,” Khalwale said.
