Ex-TV presenter deactivates Facebook account after attacks from William Ruto supporters

Former Inooro TV news anchor Muthoni Mukiri has deactivated her Facebook account after attacks from Deputy President William Ruto supporters.

William Ruto’s foot soldiers came to her gun-blazing on Wednesday, November 3, after the former TV presenter posted a meme that was presumably a mockery of the former Agriculture Minister.

Mukiri posted a picture of William Ruto in Graphic Interchange Format captioned in her native language as the deputy president toured the huge voting bloc of Mt Kenya region to popularise his Bottom-Up economic campaigns.

“Only legends will understand,” she captioned her post.

The post did not settle well with Tanga Tanga supporters as they accused her of being vulgar to the second in command forcing her to pull the post down in less than 20 minutes.

Despite pulling down her post, it did not end there as angry supporters of William Ruto went to the comment section of her older posts firing warnings to her prompting her to deactivate her Facebook account which has over 1 million followers.

Yesterday, the deputy president toured the Mt Kenya region less than a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned residents of Ruiru against electing leaders who will not safeguard his legacy and that of his predecessor Mwai Kibaki.

In what was seen as referring to Ruto, the President cautioned his backyard against electing thugs propagating divisive and empty political rhetoric.

“I urge you, don’t be incited. Choose leaders who will ensure this country remains peaceful and united and those who will carry on with the work we already started and not take us back to where we came from,” said President Kenyatta in Kikuyu language.
