Farah Maalim: Raila loses elections because of failure to pay agents

by Enock Ndayala

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga lost his bid to succeed now Rtd. President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila’s narrow loss to President William Ruto in the August 9, presidential polls was his fifth having first vied for the seat in 1997.

While a section of Kenyans claimed that Raila might have been cursed by his father late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Wiper Deputy Party leader Farah Maalim linked Raila’s fifth loss to selfishness.

Maalim, said even if Raila will give the sixth stab at the country’s top office will still lose due to deceit and betrayal because he has a tendency to not pay his agents.

“Why did we lose? We had the same problem in 2007, 2013, 2017, and now 2022, in all these our agents were not paid, which means somebody who had the money did not pay, are you going for this race to become president of this country?” he posed.

The Dadaab lawmaker who was speaking during an interview on KTN News on Tuesday, November 22, further predicted that Raila’s Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party will not make it to the next General Election.

The legislator accused the former Prime Minister of seeking selfish gains as opposed to the country’s overall interest.

“I kept wondering throughout this process, what is Raila Odinga looking for in this contest? Is he looking to become president or something else, the impression you get is he is either looking for money or other resources or other things, look at what Ruto is doing..,” Maalim said.

His comments come at a time the Jubilee party has threatened to walk out of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party over what it termed as ‘skewed sharing of committee slots.
